By the completion of reading this, all I could do was cry because it was easy to feel her pain and the abuse she had suffered. To be able to convey that to the reader is the mark of a brilliant author. I think, in total, she was so beaten down over time, all she wanted to do was escape no matter the consequences. She was a savvy businesswoman yet eventually made deals that were financially unsound. I ended with no admiration of Rowdy. Yes, he was dealing with problems of his own but wouldn't address them. He turned on his charismatic personality to use her generosity and abilities for years and trashed her with his eventual affairs and drunkenness. I admire her. I hope that, as a successful author, she has found true happiness.
